In the nervous system, it can hydrolyze ATP and other nucleotides to regulate purinergic neurotransmission. It is a noncovalent tetrameric protein and detergent inhibition of enzymatic activity is caused by dissociation of ectoapyrase tetramers into monomers (PMID: 9733785 ). |
