Histone deacetylation gives a tag for epigenetic repression and plays an important role in transcriptional regulation, cell cycle progression and developmental events. HDAC9 represses MEF2-dependent transcription. HDAC9 is broadly expressed, with highest levels in brain, heart, muscle and testis. |
