| Host / Isotype: Rabbit / IgG | Background Information: Interferons (IFNs) are a large family of multifunctional secreted proteins involved in antiviral defense, cell growth regulation, and immune activation(PMID: 18440553). A family of IFN regulatory factors(IRFs) have been shown to has a role in the transcription of IFN genes as well as IFN-stimulated genes. IRF3 is a novel key transcriptional regulator of type I IFN-dependent immune responses and involves in the innate immune response against DNA and RNA viruses, by binding to the promoters of IFN. IRF-3 is activated through phosphorylation by the kinases IKK? and/or TBK1. Phosphorylation at Ser396 is essential for IRF-3 activation. After cytoplasmic IRF-3 is phosphorylated at Ser386 and Ser396, phosphorylated IRF-3 translocates into the nucleus. This phosphorylated IRF-3 activates IFN and IFN-responsive genes. |
